20 million rapid lateral flow
While most of us have been asked to stay at home, some still have to go to work and provide vital public and economic services such as healthcare, risk prevention and more basically producing food for our over-stocked pantries.
The government has recently expanded the range of companies who can join the program of rapid covid tests for the workplace. Better news is that the stock of these tests will be replenished soon with 20 million rapid coronaviruses tests on their way.
The SureScreen Diagnostics lateral flow antigen tests can produce results under 30 minutes, and are the first one to have been validated by PHE (Public Health England), now under final validation clinical trials.
This is another spiral of hope to weaken the chain of infection, as 1 out of 3 people infected with COVID-19 do not know they have it. Asymptomatic individuals experience little, or no symptoms and most are unaware that they are potentially passing it on to people they encounter throughout their day.
The partnership is not just good news for the health care system, it will also create more than 200 jobs with roles across the whole production line as well as in the supply chain.
“I am hugely grateful for the considerable work that has been and will continue to be done by British suppliers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs to support our enormous scale up of testing.” says Lord Bethell Minister for Health. “SureScreen’s rapid tests will help prevent the spread of infection, while supporting jobs and the UK industry across the country.”
These lateral flow antigen tests provide a reliable and clear picture of test results. Unlike conventional tests which must be interpreted by a professional, these are suitable for use in any situation – from the laboratory to the consumer lab in the office.
By taking a sample from the nose or back of the throat, in less than 30 minutes the test shows on the stick if a person has or has not an active Covid-19 infection going on.
Through regular rapid testing and mass vaccination, there’s real hope that a massive burden will be taken away from our hospitals and people won’t have to wait 12 hours to access an A&E, or worse stay home untreated.
